Response: Virtual Art Department role in a Performance Capture Film
Since VFX compositing, particularly tasks which require a large amount of rotoscoping, can require a significant amount of time in Post- production; the three minute deliverable meant we could risk the challenge of developing our own workflow pipeline using the latest and most affordable Motion Capture technology and free/consumer software!

Points of Discussion
Workflow establishment with the crew.
01
Production Design
There were multiple requirements that needed to be met before productions started. First is the requirement of the set for blocking. And secondly requirements of the set for matching texture of CGI.
03
Production
The need to use five weeks for Post-production due to two week CGI Rendering Period, Quality Control and contingency. Delivering multiple Previs shoots and tests in a two week Pre-production window.
02
Camera
The necessary live action layers to capture. Limitations on camera movement effecting model tracking. Options for lenses, how anamorphic distortion could aid our effect. The requirements, color space and de-squeeze of the footage.
04
Lighting
The requirement of soft lighting, so the lighting can be replicated on the robot model. Selling the realism of our computer generated image comes down to coordinating the lighting between the gaffer and the VAD team to ensure a coordinated result
